About Us

The Rotary Club of St. George is one of five Rotary clubs providing “service above self” in Washington County.  Chartered on January 29, 1931, the club’s membership of approximately 70 neighbors, friends, leaders, and problem-solvers work together to address needs in the St. George community and the world.  Locally, SGR provides paperback dictionaries to all 3rd graders in 18 Washington County elementary schools; hosts the annual Rotary 4-Way Test Essay contest for 6th graders in area intermediate schools; provides limited financial support to numerous non-profit organizations here at home (Coins for Kids, SG Children’s Museum, Sterling Scholars); Rotary youth programs (RYLA, Rotary Exchange, and a Rotaract Club at DSU); Internationally, SGR has funded and/or built more than 2200 small stoves in Guatamala’s Mayan village homes in the last 15 years where cooking indoors over an open flame results in the deaths of many women and children due to smoke inhalation and burns.  Funds for these and other SGR projects are raised in weekly Horseplay; the annual sale of sweet, delicious California oranges; a night golf tournament; and, the SW Slam Pickleball Tournament in May.
