About Us

Southern Utah Gem and Jewelry Appraisals specializes in providing gemstone and jewelry verification, identification and evaluation documents for insurance policy needs as well as for the establishment of estates and trusts. Our services include the identification of unknown gemstones, grading and qualification of diamonds and precious gemstones, cataloging and photography of valuable jewelry items as well as the production of very high-quality and thorough documents for inheritance scenarios.

Our owner, Patrick Stout, grew up in St. George, is a Graduate Gemologist (Gemological Institute of America), is a Member of the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers, and has nearly 40 years of experience as a professional jeweler, gemologist, and appraiser. Patrick spent many years in management and training positions for companies such as Tiffany & Co., Graff Diamonds, & Ben Bridge Jeweler, and served for seven years as the Education Manager for the American Gem Society. He has had extensive training in gemology as well as value assessment theory & practice. This, combined with decades of experience in handling every type of jewelry that can be imagined, as well as high-grade timepieces such as Rolex, Cartier, and other fine watches, provides him with a very broad base of knowledge and understanding of the history of gemstones, diamonds, jewelry manufacturing techniques, high-grade timepieces and how to properly assess values to those items.
