St. George, Utah is located in the Southwest corner of Utah, 2,000 feet above sea level offering breathtaking views of the surrounding canyons as well as a warm climate for an early season IRONMAN 70.3 distance race.
St. George is only a short 45 minute drive to Mt. Zion National Park, Utah’s most popular national park with educational tours and miles of scenic hiking. St. George also offers a walkable downtown area with great local fare, boutique shopping, and parks to allow spectators and athletes to enjoy the perfect spring weather. On the opposite end of the spectrum St. George is only two hours from the exciting nightlife of Las Vegas, with endless entertainment options for adults and children.
The swim will be held at Sand Hollow Reservoir and the bike and run course offers spectacular views of downtown St. George, Snow Canyon and Red Cliffs Desert Reserve.
There are 75 qualifying slots for the IRONMAN World Championship 70.3 in Lake Las Vegas, Henderson, NV.
IRONMAN 70.3 St. George is also a Regional IRONMAN TriClub Championship race. In addition to club “members only” special on site events, athletes who are a members of a TriClub or Team, earn bonus points for their club towards the prestigious IRONMAN TriClub Annual Podium Award. The swim will be held at the scenic Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane Utah. The one–loop swim course will take place in the beautiful blue water of Sand Hollow Reservoir. The water temperature is expected to be between 60 and 64 degrees Fahrenheit.
The bike course will take athletes around Sand Hollow Reservoir through the towns of Hurricane and Washington, before making its way toward the city of St George. After crossing the Red Hill Bluff athletes will proceed on Snow Canyon parkway and up through the picturesque Snow Canyon State Park, before returning to town on SR 18 and finishing at T2 located in downtown St. George.
After entering transition in St. George’s historic Town Square, athletes will begin the one-loop course that heads out on Diagonal and Bluff Street before climbing up Red Hills Parkway through the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve. The course offers an amazing view of the city while running along the bluff before returning to the finish line located on Main Street right in the heart of down town St. George.
