About Us

The Washington County Debate Coalition (WCDC), founded in 2021, is an independent, multiparty organization dedicated to hosting regular, accessible, and inclusive debates for candidates representing southern Utah in Washington County's municipalities, county government, the Utah State Legislature, and the U.S. House of Representatives.

Comprising political parties, academics, media, and civic leaders, the WCDC establishes fair rules, schedules debates, secures venues, and ensures robust media coverage to inform voters and strengthen democratic engagement. By setting inclusive participation thresholds, the WCDC promotes viable candidates while fostering transparency and accountability in each election cycle, independent of campaigns or external influences.
