Imagine jaws lined with six-inch teeth that could kill and consume a deer in one bite. Place these jaws on an elephant-sized body, and you’ve constructed the ultimate killing machine. This is Tyrannosaurus rex (AKA, T-Rex). Tyrannosaurs symbolize dinosaur ferocity, size, and power. Not all dinosaurs were large, so what distinguished dinosaurs from other animals? And was T-rex the ultimate killing machine or just a large scavenger? How did T-rex use those rather small forelimbs? How fast could it run? In this Voyager Lecture, retired professor and astronomer Ron Smith will shine the light of scientific research on Tyrannosaurus rex. Adults and children will love this fascinating journey back in time to the age of dinosaurs. Come to Kayenta. And welcome to “Jurassic Park.”
An informal social gathering begins at 6 pm. Enjoy light appetizers and beverages, mingling and conversation. Cost is $15, including refreshments.
