Spanish Sounds—Celebrating the One-Year Anniversary of the Lorraine Boccardo Black Box Theatre
The Center for the Arts at Kayenta welcomes acclaimed pianist and composer Leanne Rees—daughter of Lorraine Boccardo—performing Spanish Sounds, a concert to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Lorraine Boccardo Black Box Theater. A full reception follows, with food and drink. Tickets are $40 ($35 if purchased on or before 10/15) and include reception.
This celebratory concert features classical music in the Spanish tradition with pieces ranging from Claude Debussy’s Habanera to Alberto Ginestera’s Milonga and Isaac Albeniz’s Malaguena, as well as her own new work, with accompanying visuals.
Leanne’s recordings include Music by American Women Composers by Bravura Recordings and Women Composers and the Men in Their Lives, which was released under the Fleur de Son Classics label and made it to the final ballot for a Grammy Award. Ms. Rees will honor her mother with this concert. “Her lifelong love for the arts and active involvement helped shape the artistic talents of many people, including my brother and me,” says, Rees.
