Southern Utah Heritage Choir Musical Tribute to Country
The Southern Utah Heritage Choir and Visitors’ Center will present a patriotic, musical fireside on Sunday, June 10, at 7:00 p.m., at the St. George Tabernacle. Featured speakers will include WWII veteran, Phil E. Squire, and 1st sergeant, Kerry Shurtz, of the Army National Guard. The Mormon Battalion will post the flag of the United States of America, and the choir will sing numerous patriotic songs and give recognition to each branch of the military.
This inspiring concert is a tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country in the cause of freedom. The choir welcomes special guest Emma Nelson, 2012 winner of Dixie’s Got Talent, who will sing Roger Emerson’s beautiful and inspired arrangement of O America,by Brendan Graham and William Joseph . DSC trumpet student, Dallin Cox, will add his virtuosity in The Star Spangled Banner and Song for the Unsung Hero.
Other favorites include Mark Hayes stunning arrangement of America the Beautiful and John Rutter’s Distant Land. The choir will honor all veterans in the Salute to the Armed Forces. This wonderful concert will conclude with the magnificent arrangement of Battle Hymn of the Republic by Peter J. Wilhousky.
