An Open House on National Fossil Day will be held for a new Special Display as well as a new life restoration of Scutellosaurus and an entrance mural. Refreshments will be provided and the public is invited. The display, "Paleontologists at Work: Fossils in the Field and Lab" will answer many of the questions visitors ask the paleontologist and guides and will be accompanied by pictures, facts, and examples of this exciting part of paleontology. The new replica, Scutellosaurus, represents a small armored dinosaur whose tracks are found at the site. It has been made specifically for the museum and there will also be a mural completed that will show what the area may have looked like during the Early Jurassic when Lake Dixie extended out from the site and the horizon wasn't filled with red rock mesas and the Pine Valley Mountains. The mural project is supported in part by the St. George Arts Commission, with funding from the City of St. George.
