Hurricane Valley Theatrical Company "Beauty and the Beast"
Hurricane Valley Theatrical Company – proudly supported and produced by the City of Hurricane – presents Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” April 11-May 3 at the Hurricane Fine Arts Center.
HVTC recently finished its successful run of “Les Misérables” in November, and the artistic director and producers wondered what classic show should follow up this iconic production. They were, of course, pleased to be offered the coveted rights to Boublil and Shönbergs’s timeless masterpiece in the first place and were very happy to have their version be so well received. It was a long shot to be granted their hopeful request of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” but somehow, someway, they landed the rights and couldn’t be more excited to bring Disney’s timeless classic to the City of Hurricane and surrounding areas.
To most, “Beauty and the Beast,” like “Les Misérables,” is most often produced in such a way that the story is easily lost and upstaged by the glitter and glam of the technical “oohs” and “ahs” and booming vocals of the show. HVTC strived, and hopefully accomplished, in “Les Misérables” to share the story and lessons therein and trim the fluff of what audiences most often see in other productions. That is their main focus here again with “Beauty and the Beast.”
Beauty and the Beast” stars Skyler Scott as Beast, Tazia Murie and Sammy Myers in the double-cast role of Belle, Barb Christensen and Janet Leavitt as Mrs. Potts, Errol Jones as Maurice, Kaden Bundy as Gaston, Trevor Gorton as Lefou, Brad Christensen as Cogsworth, Jared Davis as Lumiere, Ashli Davenport and Aubree Christensen as Babette, Ashlyn Steele and Sophia McCausland as Chip, Stockton Myers as M. D’Arque and Graig Patrallia as the Prince.
HVTC is proud to share this story of love and acceptance to the community. As they did with “Les Mis,” the theater group promises to deliver a show that is worth every penny and minute spent!
