Heritage Choir Fireside to Feature Renowned Speaker
The Southern Utah Heritage Choir will present a musical fireside, "Abiding in Christ," on Sunday, March 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the St. George Tabernacle with featured speaker, Dr. A. Lynn Scoresby.
Under the baton of Floyd Rigby, and the accompaniment of Dr. Nancy Allred, piano, and Karen Lee Cantera, organ, the choir will sing a beautiful repertoire of musical selections set to the sacred theme that will include the powerful anthem, "God of Our Fathers," and the tender description of the Savior, "Fairest Lord Jesus."
The audience will then have the pleasure of listening to the renowned Dr. A. Lynn Scoresby, a professor emeritus of the College of Family Home and Social Sciences at Brigham Young University, and founder and chairman of the Legacy Foundation. Dr. Scoresby is a popular speaker with national and international acclaim, and has lectured at BYU Education Week, convocations, and conferences. He is an avid writer and has written over 20 books, and has produced numerous audio and videotapes relating to marriage, children, parenting, and families. Among Dr. Scoresby's vast church-service experience is serving as branch president at the Missionary Training Center, a member of the YMMIA General Board, and currently as Stake President. Audiences are uplifted and motivated by his remarks and often seek his counsel on challenging family concerns.
Following his remarks about centering our lives in Christ, the choir will add their own musical confirmation as they sing, "Do Not Let Your Heart Be Troubled," a promise that the Son of God has gone to prepare a place for each of us. This will be followed by a musical selection composed by Floyd Rigby, "Do This in Remembrance of Me," a sacred recollection of the Savior's final discourse and meeting with His discples here upon earth. The choir will then close with the beloved, "O Divine Redeemer."
The Southern Utah Heritage Choir and the Visitors' Center invite all to come enjoy this evening of inspiration. Admission is free.
