Fall Art on Main
See what's new with the St. George arts scene at the Fall Art On Main downtown gallery stroll. Begin with the St. George Art Museum's new exhibit "1954 LIFE Magazine's Three Mormon Towns- Gunlock, St. George & Toquerville" featuring photography by Mark Hedengren, Dorothea Lange, and Maynard Dixon, as well as viewing photographs from "Dorothea Lange's America," then travel down Main Street to meet local featured artists, including fine art doll artist Shauna McCullough and painter Lisa Huber. Unique to this fall walk at the new Art and Soul Gallery located inside Print-It on Main Street will be a display and silent auction of altered bowling pins by collaborative teams of local artists and youth/mentor pairs from the St. George Chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Live music at several galleries provides a festive ambiance with musicians including country/folk duo Beanz N' Wheels, singer-songwriters Christina Osborn and Jerry Allen, and Mesquite group Seldom Scene.
To participate in the Gallery Walk, begin at the St. George Art Museum, located at 48 East 200 North, from 6:00 to 9:00pm Friday, October 11th. Admission to the museum is waived the evening of the Gallery Walk. Make sure to pick up a free "punch card" at the Art Museum that is marked at each gallery attended. Then, visit each of nine fine art destinations, enjoying a variety of live music, unique artwork, and the opportunity to meet many local professional artists. Turn in the punch card at Twenty-Five Main Café before 9:00pm, when a drawing will be held for the piece of artwork. Participating galleries include Bedard Fine Art, Authentique Gallery, Split Rock Gallery, Twiggs and Moore Gallery, The Mission Gallery, Art & Soul Gallery (located inside Print It Shop), Wide Angle Photography, Remax Fine Art Gallery, and Twenty-Five Main Cafe.
Art on Main is a non-profit project of Art Around the Corner, and is supported in part by the City of St. George via the St. George Arts Commission.
