Dixie State Weekly Forum "Overcoming Addiction and Adversity" Discussion
Dr. Dixie State College of Utah’s weekly “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” series continues with a special presentation on overcoming addiction and adversity by DSC student Matt Blanchard.
Blanchard will share his inspirational story with his presentation entitled “Feeding the Monster: A Personal Journey of Addiction and Adversity,” which chronicles the last six years of his life following an automobile accident in 2006, which left him paralyzed below the waist. Blanchard, who is a biology and communication major at DSC, has shared his triumphant story of overcoming his limitations throughout the community at area high schools, shelters and other venues.
“I believe the only limitations that we have are the limitations that we put upon ourselves,” Blanchard said. “I also believe that it is not our triumphs in life that define us, but the way we handle adversity.”
The weekly Dixie Forum series will continue its 2012 Fall Semester slate on Tuesday, Sept. 25, with the first of a new “Great Faiths” series of discussions, featuring a presentation on Christianity by Elder Marlon Jensen of the LDS Church.
