Dixie State Weekly Forum "History and Cultural Wars"
Dixie State College’s weekly “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” convocation series continues its historical “Unheard Voices” format for the 2013 spring semester with a presentation entitled “History & the Culture Wars,” by forum series director and DSC Assistant Professor of History Dr. Joel A. Lewis.
Dr. Lewis’ presentation is based off a keynote speech he delivered at the Utah Academy of Sciences, Art & Letters Awards Conference held last year in Salt Lake City. He earned his Ph.D. in Transnational and Comparative History at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Prior to teaching at Dixie State, Lewis taught American, European, and world history at Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University. In addition, he is an ordained minister in the Universal Life Church, performing marriage ceremonies for non-denominational and inter-faith couples throughout the United States.
The Dixie Forum series is introducing a new format for the 2013 spring semester, in which the majority of the forums will now be held every Thursday featuring historical topics ranging from civil rights, military conflicts and the arts, among other subjects. The next forum will feature a presentation on civil rights by UNLV Assistant Professor of History Dr. Todd E. Robinson on Thursday, Feb. 7th.

The Forum will be held in the Dunford Auditorium of the Browning Resource Center on the DSC campus.
