Dixie State Weekly Forum "Civil Rights & the City"
Dixie State College’s weekly “Dixie Forum: A Window on the World” convocation series continues its historical “Unheard Voices” with a presentation entitled “Civil Rights & the City,” by UNLV Assistant Professor of History Dr. Todd E. Robinson.
Dr. Robinson's presentation is based off his recent book publication with Temple University Press entitled "A City within a City: The Black Freedom Struggle in Grand Rapids, Michigan." Dr. Robinson completed his Ph.D. in History at the University of Michigan. He offers undergraduate and graduate courses in African American History, urban and suburban history, race and sports, and social movements. He is also a frequent guest on National Public Radio.
The Dixie Forum series is introducing a new format for the 2013 spring semester, in which the majority of the forums will now be held every Thursday featuring historical topics ranging from civil rights, military conflicts and the arts, among other subjects. The next forum will feature a musical presentation on labor history by the internationally renowned folk singer David Rovics on Thursday, Feb. 14th.
