Dixie Regional Hosts Lecture on Stroke Prevention
Intermountain Healthcare is now offering a free discussion lecture on the prevention of and rehabilitation from stroke and will feature Curt Walker, Ph.D., a human anatomy professor at Dixie State College. Walker will discuss the effects stroke has on the human brain and anatomy. The presentation will include a real human brain for visual learning and a hands-on activity.
According to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, stroke is one of the leading causes of death and serious, long-term disability in the United States. On average, someone suffers a stroke every 40 seconds; someone dies from a stroke every four minutes; and about 795,000 people suffer a new or recurrent stroke each year.
