Discovery Day in Zion National Park
The Zion National Park Foundation invites you to visit Zion National Park for Discovery Day. Discovery Day is a new event planned by park staff and sponsored by the Zion National Park Foundation to offer Zion National History Association Members and Zion park visitors an opportunity to enjoy a special park experience.
Zion National Park Superintendent, Jock Whitworth, as well as other key park managers will welcome you and speak of their experiences in Zion. This is a great opportunity to ask questions about the park and park management issues.
Stations will be available to learn about the park’s geology, plants, wildlife, and recreational opportunities. Ranger talks are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. and at 2:00 p.m. Children’s activities are on-going throughout the day. Take this opportunity to observe a cultural demonstration and to listen to live local music. Be inspired by artists demonstrations and learn more about the park’s annual plein air artist invitational held in November.
A spirited silent auction will take place with proceeds supporting Zion’s tremendous youth programs. Bid on great prizes or on original paintings donated by the 2013 Zion Plein Air Artists.
Representatives from Pipe Spring and Cedar Breaks National Monuments will be on hand to promote their special park events as well as to answer visitor questions.
Take this opportunity to learn how you can be involved in the future of these parks you love so much. Bring a picnic lunch and a reusable water bottle, relax on the lawn, refresh yourself, restore your spirit and enjoy a day of discovery in Zion National Park
