Child Abuse Documentary on The 5 Browns and Discussion at Kayenta

The public is invited to the Center for the Arts at Kayenta at 6pm, September 21st, to introduce themselves and share stories of child abuse. At 7:30, a screening of “Digging Through the Darkness” will commence. The film takes an intimate look at The 5 Browns, a group of sibling pianists with a meteoric rise to stardom only to be devastated years later by the tragic realization that all three sisters had been sexually abused by their father. Using archival family video, interviews, rehearsals, performances and verité footage, you’ll see musical determination and passion mirrored by profound bravery and survival-both personally and professionally-as The 5 Browns come to terms with their broken family. Following the screening, a discussion will be held with Deondra Brown of The 5 Browns and Jan Broberg, Executive Director of the Center and subject of Netflix’s wildly popular child-grooming documentary “Abducted in Plain Sight.”
