Spring is an excellent time to start a walking program. After a sedentary winter, walking is the perfect way to get off the couch and start burning calories, toning muscles, and feeling great about yourself.
Although it's tempting to charge outside and go for a gung-ho walk on the first day of your walking program, it's better to start slowly and increase your effort over time. If you have been physically inactive for some time, you need to be careful not to overdo it. Remember to consult with your physician before starting a new exercise regimen to make sure it's right for you.
Our luncheon will also feature Julia Frehner who lost both her legs in a tragic accident in 1997. She'll be sharing her inspiring story and give tips on how to be happy no matter what life throws you.
