23rd Army Band Concert
In what has become an annual holiday tradition since 1996, Dixie State College of Utah will present the “Governor’s Own” 23rd Army Band in a special concert event. Each year the band entertains music lovers in Utah’s Dixie with marches, military tributes, holiday music, and much more throughout the night.
The 23rd Army Band is under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Denny Saunders.
The 23rd Army Band has played for Presidents, Senators, Congressmen, and Heads of State over the years. Each year the Band performs for thousands of people across the state of Utah as well as the United States, giving clinics and concerts at schools, performing at civic functions, performing in parades, military dances, changes of command, and pass-in reviews. All of the 23rd Army Band concerts are free of charge.
Organized in 1924, the band has been a group throughout the years performing in some of the most elite ceremonies. The band is manned by some of the finest musicians, who as well as performing in concerts in the Band, also work as lawyers, accountants, teachers, law enforcement officers and more.
In 2010, the 23rd Army Band was the recipient of a special invitation to conduct a two-week tour in the Kingdom of Morocco. The 23rd’s Stage Band and Rock Band wowed audiences all across the country including the historic city of Kenitra, Morocco, which played a major role in the Allied forces taking back Africa in the height of World War II.
