DESCRIPTION:Women of the Silver Reef\n\nOld mining towns seem to be like the men that lived in them\, rough\, tough\, and lawless.\n\nHowever\, a quarter of the population of Silver Reef was female. What brought these women and children to Silver Reef\, and what did they do there? \n\n\n\nLearn about the women of Silver Reef and see the types of clothing that they wore at the end of the nineteenth century. Presentations will be given by Silver Reef historian Elaine Young and Dixie Miller.\n\n\n\n***Silver Reef Museum will be hosting a Smithsonian Institution/ US National Archives traveling exhibit: "The Way We Worked" sponsored in Utah by Utah Humanities in Sept/Nov. 2017.\n\n\n\n?The Way We Worked? has been made possible in Utah by Utah Humanities. The exhibition\, created by the US National Archives\, is part of Museum on Main Street\, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and State Humanities Councils nationwide. Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress. The Washington County\, Utah tour of ?The Way We Worked? is hosted by the Silver Reef Museum\, Leeds\, UT.
