The tour will benefit the Silver Reef Museum and tickets are tax deductible. \n\n\n\n\n\nOne of the homes is a pioneer era stone house. \n\nIt was built by Willard G McMullin & Sons between 1878 & 1881 on Leeds' Main Street. It began as a one room home and over the years B.Y. McMullin & wife Ada added four more rooms surrounded by rock walls. It was called the Mormon Hotel as many church authorities visiting southern Utah would stay at the B.Y. McMullin home. The rock walls are 18" thick and some ceilings are nine ft. high. It is said that Butch Cassidy slept here. \n\n\n\nAnother home in the same neighborhood is the original Mormon tithing House. It was also built by Willard G. McMullin & Sons\, of native sandstone in about 1891. It has been restored as a residence by Ken and Patricia Hadley. Pat lived in the house as a child while her father was an instructor at the Leeds Civilian Conservation Corps camp. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The stone wall surrounding this Leeds Tithing building is unique as most stone walls of this time period are long gone. \n\n \n\nThe third home\, in Silver Reef\, was built by the owners themselves. "We had never built a house before.The style is called 2nd Empire French\, and we did our best to make it look old\, and original. Glade drew up the plans." Glade did the woodwork in the home\, which is beautifully decorated in period furnishings. He also built wooden planes and trains that decorate the home. "It does have a 1924 Buick living in the family room!" \n\n \n\nThe fourth home\, in El Dorado Hills\, reflects the owners' interests: cowboys\, Indians\, and hunting. Two horses share the five acre property\, which has spectacular views of the Hurricane Valley and surrounding area. The great room contains a buffalo hide painted by a Blackfoot Indian artist depicting the story of a raiding party. Hunting trophies and western art\, much of it horse related\, have been collected by the owners.\n\n \n\nPlease note: Parking may not be contiguous to the home and all of these homes have steps and are not handicap accessible. \n\nParticipants should meet at 1 p.m. at the Cosmopolitan\, adjacent to the Silver Reef Museum\, for maps\, info and ride sharing.
