SUMMARY:DSU Faculty Concert
DESCRIPTION:Dixie State University's Music Department will present 10 free concert and recital events this spring semester. \n\n\n\nThe first free concert will feature new music written by DSU music faculty and visiting guest composer\, Dr. Steven Ricks\, a member of the composition faculty of Brigham Young University. DSU music department chair Glenn Webb will perform Ricks' 21st century work\, Dividing Time\, composed for a large collection of percussion instruments. \n\n \n\nIn addition\, DSU adjunct faculty member Robert Matheson will debut his new work\, Surround Etude for Trumpet and Electronics\, which will be performed by fellow faculty member Gary Caldwell. Matheson pairs the standard trumpet with electronic elements that Caldwell controls with a "Nintendo wii" remote while performing on trumpet. The concert will also mark the debut of an iPad ensemble performing an interactive work entitled Prelude: Audience Interaction.
