Governor Cox will also receive an honorary doctorate degree in Humanities as part of the commencement ceremony. \n\n\n\nSpencer J. Cox was appointed Utah's eighth Lieutenant Governor on October 16\, 2013. At the time of his selection by Governor Gary R. Herbert\, he was serving in the Utah State Legislature and had previously served as a Sanpete County Commissioner and mayor of Fairview\, Utah. He was the Vice President and General Counsel of CentraCom\, a full service telecommunications company with one of the largest fiber optic networks in the state. Formerly he practiced law with the law firm Fabian and Clendenin in Salt Lake City.\n\nLt. Governor Cox earned an Associate Degree from Snow College\, a Bachelor Degree in Political Science and Spanish from Utah State University\, and a Juris Doctor Degree from Washington and Lee University.
