Additionally\, Garner will discuss why the world is much wealthier today than it was in the past\, as the standard of living that richer countries of the world enjoy today would have been unimaginable to citizens' distant ancestors. As part of this discussion\, the forum will address why not all countries have shared equally in the economic growth of the last two centuries.\n\n\n\nA native of Las Vegas\, Garner received a bachelor's degree in economics from Brigham Young University and a doctorate in economics from Brown University. He has extensively researched economic growth and development. Additionally\, Garner has published several academic articles on economic growth and has presented his research in conferences at Harvard and Oxford universities.\n\n\n\nDixie Forum is a weekly lecture series designed to introduce the St. George community and DSU students\, faculty and staff to diverse ideas and personalities while widening their worldviews via a 50-minute presentation.
