DESCRIPTION:Tami Curtis\n\nRESILIENCE: THE BIOLOGY OF STRESS &\n\nTHE SCIENCE OF HOPE\nTami Curtis\, MSW\, LCSW is a Dixie transplant from Cache Valley who fell in love with Southern Utah when she attended Dixie College many years ago.  She earned her bachelor degree in Family Consumer and Human Development\, with a minor in Psychology from Utah State University (USU) and completed an internship in a high school counseling center. She earned her master's degree in Social Work from USU and completed internships for a residential treatment center for adolescent and adult females with eating disorders and an outpatient non-profit agency providing therapy for children\, adolescents\, and adults who have experienced trauma and have been victims of abuse.  Following her graduate program\, Tami provided mental health and behavioral services in outpatient\, inpatient\, and residential settings\, conducted crisis evaluations in the Logan Emergency Department and provided Behavior Services to children\, adolescents\, and adults with special needs. She currently works as the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Coordinator for WCSD.  Tami is passionate about prevention and early intervention in the largest Human Service organization in St. George\, the WCSD.  Tami believes education is the best way to empower a person and takes a strength-based approach to practice\, including the philosophy that all people are doing the best they can with the skills they have.  When teaching occurs in an environment where students feel safe and connected\, they learn and thrive. Tami is married to an elementary school teacher\, they have 3 amazing children and they all love playing in the outdoors together.
