SUMMARY:Chamber Luncheon featuring Ivins City Mayor Chris Hart
DESCRIPTION:Ivins Mayor Chris Hart will address the Chamber and its members about the new Veterans Nursing Home\, the economic impact on the city and all of Southern Utah\, as well as the future of Ivins.\n\nIn March\, Ivins saw construction begin on the Veterans Nursing Home by general contractor Layton Construction. It is forecast to be completed by May of 2013. The preliminary plans reflect our concern for the visual environment surrounding the future facility. The architects have designed the building to be low slung with elevations\, features\, and colors that harmonize with Vista School. \n\nA consortium comprised of Layton Construction\, BWA Architects and Naylor Wentworth Lund Architects is designing and building the new nursing homes. McFall said each would employ a full-time staff of between 140 and 150 people earning $4 million in salaries with $4.5 million spent each year on goods and services in their local economies.\n\n \n\nVeterans Eagle Monument\n\n \n\nEd Hlavka's "Eagle Monument" will become the centerpiece of the Washington County Veterans Nursing Home in Ivins City. This magnificent bronze sculpture towering over twenty-five feet in height will be nestled against the iconic red mountain that stands guard over the nursing home site. With its sixteen-foot wingspan this inspiring symbol of America's freedom for which the future residents of this facility have fought will serve as a permanent reminder of the sacrifices they have made and their importance to each of us as beneficiaries.
