SUMMARY:Chamber Connect featuring Zion National Park Superintendent
DESCRIPTION:In this week's Chamber Connect\, Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh will address the group on the topic "Visitor Use Management at Zion National Park - Trends and Issues".\n\nZion set a new attendance record in 2015 with 3.6 million visitors\, a figure nearly 30 percent higher than it was a decade ago. Park officials announced late last year they would develop a new management plan to address the crowds.\n\nLast month the National Park Service released a "State of the Park" report on Zion that listed increased visitation and transportation issues as some of the key challenges facing the park moving forward\, noting that neither the park nor Springdale would be able to "build ourselves out of this situation" by adding infrastructure without sacrificing the ability to provide a quality experience.\n\n Jeff Bradybaugh has been the superintendent at Zion National Park since October\, 2014 but is no stranger to Zion or our communities. Jeff served as the Chief of Natural and Cultural resources management at Zion between 1997 and 2006. From there\, he was able to continue to reside in his Hurricane home while serving as Superintendent at Grand Canyon-Parashant NAtional Monument out on the Arizona Strip\, an area of more than 1million acres jointly managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the National Park Service. From there he moved to Bryce Canyon National Park as park superintendent in October 2010 for 4 years. Jeff has been with the National Park Service for 34 years.
