SUMMARY:Chamber Connect featuring Washington County Commissioners
DESCRIPTION:Come and get to know your County Commissioners next week at the Chamber Connect Luncheon. \n\n\n\nCommissioner Alan Gardner: will talk about public lands in Washington County and Utah\, along with the status of the effort to transfer public lands to the State of Utah.\n\nCommissioner Zachary Renstrom: will talk about the County Budgeting\, its status financially\, and some of the current on-going issues that the county is actively involved in.\n\n\n\nCommissioner Victor Iverson: will play a short 2-3 minute animated video explaining what many of the various services are that a county delivers. He will speak about some of his assignments including mental health\, public health\, etc.\, and about how the RAP tax will roll-out and be collected and distributed.\n\n\n\nWe are very proud of where we live and work. Washington County is known for warm winter weather\, snowbirds\, and beautiful red rock scenery. It has been known as Utah's Dixie since pioneers settled here in the 1850's. Championship golf\, tennis\, walking paths\, biking trails\, hiking\, warm\, snow-free winters and year long low humidity all make life attractive here.\n\n\n\nIn the mid 1960's the county's population was about 10\,000\; today\, it is well over 140\,000. In fact\, our population has nearly doubled each of the last three decades!\n\nWe are home to the world-renowned Snow Canyon State Park and the Tuacahn Center with its 1\,200 seat outdoor amphitheater and the magnificent Zion National Park. The county has the benefit of a large\, ultra-modern convention center\, the Rosenbruch World Wildlife Museum\, and the 1200 seat Cox Performing Arts Theatre that is on the Dixie State University campus.
