He has worked both sides of the airport\, in airfield management and as a pilot. This experience has helped him understand and relate to all types of airport operators. For the past eight years he has been directing the growth of the St. George Regional Airport. During his tenure the airport has grown from one airline to four airlines (Delta\, United\, American and Allegiant Air) and have flights have grown from four flights a day to 11 round trip daily flights to four major hubs.\n\nHe cut his airport director's teeth in Logan\, Utah\, for 6 years at the Logan-Cache airport. He guided the development of that airport from a sleepy General Aviation airport to a commercial airport in the first year of his tenure. "That was a serious learning curve\," he said.\n\nIn his previous life\, before managing airports\, Richard spent 12 years in the USAF as an Aerial Port Specialist for the first four years\, then as a C-141B Pilot/Instructor Pilot and Command Post Duty Officer.\n\nHe has a Business Management degree\, with an emphasis in Marketing\, from California State University at San Bernardino. He is also an American Association of Airport Executives\, Certified Manager. He's been married to his wife Georgia for 38 years\, has five children and 15 grandchildren.\n\n \n\nLunch Sponsered by Root for Kids\n\nRoot for Kids (formerly The Learning Center for Families) is a private\, nonprofit organization that has served over 15\,000 families throughout Washington County and the Arizona Strip since 1993.
