"Women of Silver Reef"
Women of the Silver Reef
Old mining towns seem to be like the men that lived in them, rough, tough, and lawless.
However, a quarter of the population of Silver Reef was female. What brought these women and children to Silver Reef, and what did they do there?
Learn about the women of Silver Reef and see the types of clothing that they wore at the end of the nineteenth century. Presentations will be given by Silver Reef historian Elaine Young and Dixie Miller.
***Silver Reef Museum will be hosting a Smithsonian Institution/ US National Archives traveling exhibit: "The Way We Worked" sponsored in Utah by Utah Humanities in Sept/Nov. 2017.
