Chamber Inspiration Luncheon featuring Carl Lamar
This Wednesday's Inspiration Luncheon will feature famed and noted radio DJ Carl Lamar. He'll talk about his 43 years in radio broadcasting, what he's learned about the changing advertising industry and his philanthropy work.
Raised in Flagstaff, Arizona, he started his radio career in 1972, working at three radio stations there and leaving as General Manager in 1986. He served as General Sales Manager for the Navajo Nation’s 50,000 Watt station until his move to St. George in 1987. There, he started as General Manager and morning show co-host for KONY and continues to do the morning show. Carl also served as Vice President of Broadcast Operations for Red Rock Broadcasting until 2000. He is currently Executive Vice-President of Canyon Media which operates 99.9 KONY Country, 94.1 THE PLANET, 95.9 The Hawk, FOX NEWSRADIO FM 93.1 FM and AM 1450, Easy 101.5, 96X, and Juan 104.1. He has served as Past Board Member of the St. George Chamber of Commerce; past chairman and board member of the Washington Country School District foundation; past President and member of the Dixie Sunshiners; past member of the noon Exchange Club; past chairman and board member of the Bloomington Community Council, and past board member of the St. George Rotary Club. Currently, Carl serves as President of the KONY Coins for Kids Charity. He enjoys music, singing, flying airplanes and helicopters, ham radio and people! Carl and his wife Carmen are the proud parents of 4 children and 13 grandchildren!
